Bulk Excavation

Bulk excavation is the term used when a significant volume of earth is required to be excavated and displaced from any given point to achieve the required reduced level (RL).

Bulk excavation typically begins with a site survey, which helps assess the work’s scope and formulate a plan. Once the job has started, bulk excavators use various heavy equipment to remove the earth. If access is sufficient larger earthmoving machinery is preferably used to excavate and displace excavated matter.

During a bulk excavation, a surveyor provides a datum point with the reduced level. We use this datum point as our reference point and set our laser level to the designed reduced level on the plans. We also use the laser level as a guide to cut down to the desired level.

The material is then typically transported off-site for disposal or reuse. In some cases, the earth matter can be used on-site to fill levels below the designed reduced level. This is referred to as cut and fill.

Site Cut Excavation

Site cut excavation involves removing soil and other materials from a site in order to create a level and stable foundation for construction or landscaping projects.

The process of site cut excavation begins with a thorough analysis of the site to determine the extent of the excavation that will be required. This analysis takes into account factors such as the size and shape of the site, the type of soil or rock that is present and any underground utilities or structures that may need to be avoided or relocated.

Once the analysis is complete, our excavation team will use heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators and backhoes to remove the soil and other materials from the site. This may involve cutting down hills or removing rocks and boulders in order to create a level and stable surface.

At Orb Excavation we ensure our site cut excavation services are provided with accuracy. We use our latest laser technology to provide the most level cut with an accuracy of 30mm as to your plans.
